A Necessary Luxury: How to make a Natural Spa at Home

spa

Sweet sensual lovers, I was in Montreal over the weekend with a couple of friends. It was an opportunity to pamper ourselves and commit to some essential fairy-magic beautifying practices in our palatial rock star apartment. It was legendary fun!

These days, my skin feeling sad. It’s not accustomed to the dry dullness that comes from electric heat and indoor activities (I miss the consistent warm winds of Brazil). It’s starting to get cold here and as a result, my once soft skin is starting to look a little weathery and leathery. What is a sensual lover to do? I’ll let you in on the beauty regime we followed in Montreal. It’s guaranteed to turn you from scaly to sensually soft and fast.

BATHE!

In the deep soaker tub, I took a medium hot bath with Epsom salt and palo santo, grapefruit and jasmine. I used these essential oils for specific reasons. Palo santo helps to clear away unwanted energies and purifies the spirit. Grapefruit imparts a sunshine-burst of happy and dissolves stagnation. Jasmine oozes sensual charm and feminine mystique. The smell was positively enchanting and a perfect start to the beauty regime.

feet tubAfter luxuriating in the bath, I scrubbed my entire body with Epsom salt, followed by baking soda to cleanse and slough off dead skin. I rinsed it all off in the bath.

After the bath, I covered my warm, wet body with coconut oil infused with the same blend as above. I allowed my body to dry naturally letting the moisture and essential oils enter directly into my blood stream. The oils bathed my cells with aromatic, medicinal power. The result was gorgeous, dewy skin from top to bottom (inside and out). Happy!

FACIAL

After the bath, I made a tea infused with Rose Petals, Lavender and Chamomile.

In a bowl, I added:

2 tablespoons organic oats

1 teaspoon of spirulina

1 teaspoon of raw, organic creamed Quebec honey

1 drop of Geranium essential oil

1 drop of Rose otto essential oil

I then added the warm tea to the bowl with the other ingredients and mixed well. It formed a mask paste that we then applied to our faces.

I used Geranium and Rose otto essential oils for their ability to deeply moisturize and heal the skin. Oats are extraordinary for their ability soften skin. Spirulina is protein rich and makes skin supple. Honey tones and softens the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines. I left on the mask for about 20 minutes and washed it off with warm water. I followed with a jojoba-based moisturizer combined with essential oils for skin radiance.

The results were amazing. My skin looked amazingly youthful, toned, soft and touchable for days.

MASSAGE

I am lucky that I roll with some extraordinary women who are also gifted healers. In order to maximize the bliss, we took turns giving and receiving foot massages infused with specific essential oils for our individual needs. For my foot massage, I selected laurel, cypress and lavender to help move stagnation and improve circulation. This blend was perfect because the following day we were going to be on our feet for many hours. I felt positively dreamy and at peace. If you don’t have friends around, learn how to give yourself a foot massage. It is one of the best ways I know to nourish and heal yourself. Self love is truly sexy.

It doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. True beauty isn’t. It takes just a moment of self-love to rediscover the supple siren that you are.
