Wowee Sensual Lovers, this is the 12th and final installment of our full moon series. I am thrilled to be ending it in June; my favorite month. June is amazing for so many reasons. The weather warm and breezy, the days are long, the solstice is upon us and strawberries make their way into smoothies, desserts and salads. Did I mention it’s also my birthday month? It’s time to celebrate all that has taken root and started to bloom (Geminis love to party and birthdays are an excellent excuse to stretch out the celebrations).
Sweet sensual lovers, I can’t express my joy in seeing life thriving everywhere around me. It’s a Sensual Living Christmas. Flowers are bursting forth, my garden is overflowing with life and the air smells undeniably sweet. It is hard not to fall in love when everything is so beautiful and alive.
This month’s full moon is tonight and darlings, it’s a delicious one. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the May full moon is called the Full Flower Moon, also called Mother’s Moon, Milk Moon and Corn Planting Moon, makes a time of increasing fertility with temperatures warm enough for safely bearing young, there is a near end to late frosts and plants are in bloom. It’s finally warm enough to squish our feet into the ground and feel the receptive, nurturing energy of the earth, meeting and healing us. Gosh how I have missed barefoot grounding.
Alright Moon lovers, on Saturday we are hitting the second and final eclipse of this cycle. It’s a big one as it’s a Blood Moon. The moon will turn bright red for about an hour. Blood moons are seen as omens of big change or events about to happen. It doesn’t necessarily mean dark ominous mayhem and destruction are immanent. Change can be positive when we meet it with enthusiasm and trust in the divine plan.
Do you fear change? Are your habitual patterns keeping you small, safe and disempowered? That isn’t the way for any Sensual Lover. Use the power of the full moon to galvanize your life, dreams, hopes and aspirations. Remember the New Moon/eclipse/equinox a couple of weeks ago? It was a powerful and important time to set intentions and do ceremony. The last couple of weeks were an incubation period for your manifestations (albeit a potentially turbulent one). At this full moon, complete the ritual by gathering what is not serving you and set it ablaze. Free yourself from the shackles of stagnation to actualize your potent New Moon manifestations. Open sacred space, give offerings to your altar or to the earth, be clear and firm in your prayers. The great mystery is listening. What are you truly asking for?
In many parts of the Northern hemisphere, snow is melting away and little sparks of life are coming to the surface. It’s an exciting time of regeneration and renewal.
All this week, I have been cleansing with Ayurvedic kitchari to gently release the sludge of winter and prepare my body and my mind for the upcoming season. March goes in like a lion out like a lamb, so they say. How can you use the energy of the March full moon? Is it time for you to let down your armor and allow the soft sweetness of life into your life? How can you soften your edges? What can you do to support yourself through this transition?
Sensual lovers… today is a very important day astrologically. The full moon is at zero degrees in Capricorn. This is the most important and powerful day OF THE YEAR. I am sure that you can viscerally feel that these are times of massive change. This astrological moment points directly to us as individuals stepping into our full divine power, for the betterment of the collective. It’s time to actively release things that are holding us back. Take stock of your life and decide what you want to take and leave, moving forward into this new paradigm. Lovers, it’s huge! You can actively use the power of the sun and stars to galvanize all that you want in all aspects of your life.
Wowza! Can you feel that intensity in air? It’s the last full moon of the year and it’s a doozy. The days are short and the day of the darkness is upon us. It’s time for reflection and an invitation to step fully and authentically into our light.
The December Full moon is called the Cold Moon, cause baby, it’s cold outside. Get your hot chocolate and your sweetie and cuddle together to warm up these dark nights. Additionally, I recommend including cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and vanilla into your breakfast smoothie or as a daily tea to help increase the internal heat. I also love to sweat it out as much as possible. I regularly include weekly infra-red sauna sessions throughout the winter to help detoxify my body and keep the core internal furnace firing. I also maintain a diligent fitness routine throughout the cold months. It’s the best way to keep those pesky winter woes away.
It is full moon time here at Sensual Living. Honestly, sometimes I feel like I should start these posts with a howl.
It’s November. I have heard that many people simply loathe this month. In the northern hemisphere, the days are increasingly shorter, the nights are increasingly colder and November signals the start of the Christmas season (so says retailers with their pop-up displays ready to go on the first of the month).
I can understand the slightly ominous feeling. It’s a long time before the sweet blossoms of spring open and we are again flowing in summer breezes. I say nuts to that. Take November by the horns and use this opportunity for our growth and transformation; and right now we are endlessly supported by wisdom of the moon.
It’s tonight! Can you feel it? The full moon is tonight and this one is super-charged, wild and electric. Sometimes called the Blood moon or Hunter’s moon, it’s the first full moon after the Harvest Moon. It is called the Blood moon because it has a reddish hue to it. Additionally, the October moon is called a Hunters moon because it is time of easy hunting, even deep into the night, allowing us to prepare for the long winter ahead. While I have a slight aversion to the cold, I love this time of year because there is a discernable shift in energy. The days are cooler and the nights are getting longer. It’s hunkering season (or cashmere season in my life). This Blood moon is particularly special because there is also a total eclipse.
Yep, it’s the full moon again tonight and this particular moon is always one of my favorites. It’s the harvest moon and the time where farmers in the Northern Hemisphere are quickly gathering their crops before the winter. The Harvest Moon aids farmers as they bring in the crops, because of its bigness and brightness. The harvest moon is especially potent as it falls very close to the equinox- the time that the days and nights are equal in length. It’s a time of balance, harmony and peace. The Harvest Moon usually appears bigger, brighter or more pumpkin-colored than other full moons. One of my favorite places to be is on the lake watching the Harvest moon rise. I remember, as a child, the wonder of seeing a vibrant orange moon. It still fills me with awe. I will be there at the lake this evening, trust!
The full moon is August 10, 2014 at 2P.M. EDT and we are in for a big, juicy super moon. It will be the biggest moon of the year. A super moon means that the moon will be closest to the earth’s orbit making it appear bigger and brighter than other full moons. The super moons are also the most super charged. The best time to view it is just after sunset when the moon is rising out of the horizon.
Full Sturgeon Moon
Some Native American tribes called this month’s Moon the Sturgeon Moon because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this full Moon. Around the Great lakes, in Native American tradition, Sturgeons were considered the royalty of fishes (also prized by Europeans for their precious caviar). Working with Sturgeon medicine can teach you about determination, perseverance, depth, knowledge, generosity, strength, and sexuality. Is there a big fish you are trying to catch? Is there an area of your life that can benefit from Sturgeon medicine and the power of the moon? This is a good time to cast your net into the great big sea of opportunity and reap the rewards of your patience and determination.
