Essential Oils for Beauty and Burns

Essential Oils for Beauty and Burns

by

Sensual lovers, recently I burned myself again. I have to be a little more careful in the kitchen. This time, I singed about 2 inches of skin on my inner elbow- not a great place as every time I moved my arm, I opened the wound. Wowzers, it wasn’t comfortable.

Thank goodness for the regenerative, anti-bacterial power of essential oils. My protocol was simple and effective. After the initial run of peppermint to cool the skin, I continued with lavender, and lots of it. For about a week, I applied it every few minutes (or whenever the pain would strike). It was immediately calming and regenerating. I could see the skin knit itself back together. I also bathed the skin in bright sunshine (and Vitamin D). After the skin healed over, I wanted to ensure that it wouldn’t scar so I applied the supremely healing skin serum- a blend that makes skin sparkle. Day by day, it disappeared without puffy or pulled skin, red inflamed skin or discoloration. Viva! It’s all happening.

Sensual lovers… woohoo, I did it!

And after the launch of my book, Aromatherapy for Sensual Living and the birth of my company, Pur Frequency, only the best aromatherapy for beauty, health and lifestyle, I found myself incredibly happy and pretty much depleted. Eek! Dark circles. Sensual lovers know that beauty (and productivity) does not come from exhaustion so afterward the launch, I asked and received a constitutional reset.

We get by with a little help from our friends

One of my closest beloveds invited me up to the cottage for a week of maximum chilling and deep restoration. It was sublime. I spent my days eating gorgeous food, hiking Haliburton hills, hula hooping, swimming and imbibing in sweet sensual living luxury. It was just what the doctor ordered.

My 20 Year Love Affair with Essential Oils

by

Sweet, delicious sensual lovers, here we are. It’s less than a week away from the launch of my book, Aromatherapy for Sensual Living- Essential oils for the Ecstatic Soul published by Skyhorse Publishing. It has been quite a round-the-world, life changing journey to get here and wow, oh wow I am excited for its manifestation. It’s been a long road, there’s no turning back.

My love affair with essential oils started when I was a teenager. After reading an article about the ancient power of essential oils, something inside me clicked. Like a curious witch in search of her next spell, I needed to find out more. After a couple false starts, I discovered a store in downtown Toronto that specialized in pure, authentic aromatherapy. My first oil was Balsam Peru and it was love at first inhalation. I spent many hours in that little shop smelling, learning and deepening my life long love affair with the plants.

Ferments: An Ancient Way to Glorious Health

by

Fermented foods are just about one of my favorite high vibe staples. They have been used for centuries (if not millennia) and across most cultures as a way to improve digestion, provide protection against disease, boost immunity and achieve vibrant health. Unfortunately for most people in the west, fermented foods have fallen by the wayside. My goal is to inspire you to delve into that pickle jar or gulp back kombucha like a champ. Your body and brain will thank you.

The Snow Moon: Finding the Beauty in Today

by

Here we are in the thick of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. It can start to get a little grueling this time of year. It’s not a surprise that tonight’s full moon is called a Snow moon. Usually the heaviest snows fall in this month each year. Hunting becomes very difficult, and hence to some tribes this was the Full Hunger Moon or the Bone Moon as tribes would have only bones left to eat. However, there is hope in sight.

I am thrilled that the days are getting longer and the chunkiest part of winter is behind us. Sensual lovers, you know I am better suited to southern climes and I miss Rio intensely. However, I have a few tricks up my sleeve to manage the most desolate parts of winter.

Happy New Year: Here’s to an Extraordinary 2015

by

Sensual lovers, wow, just wow. 2014 was a pivotal year for me. I want to thank you deeply for being a part of my world of aromatherapy, high vibe health, sensuality and true beauty. This year included a book deal, six months in Rio, a unexpected car accident, hoop gigs, a lover or two and so much more.  I am both excited and humbled at what’s ahead. In 2015, I will launch Aromatherapy for Sensual Living Essential Oils for the Ecstatic Soul, continue the SenLiv Mama project, do a west coast Aromatherapy tour and release a little secret I am holding close to my heart; it promises to be the most sensual yet.  What is happening now is the culmination of long and winding road that, in some parts was treacherous, in others, sublime.

Beet it Rainbow Salad (yup, I went there)

by

I am a delicate flower. I get trembling cold if I eat a lot of raw food in the wild north of Canada (as cold causes constriction). Sensual lovers the truth is, I long for the fresh foods of summer. I love the solid crunch of a raw salad and the vibrant colors that tickle my insides. To keep me warm and happy while eating raw food, I add warming herbs to dishes. As such, I am able to eat minimal amounts of raw food without getting the dreaded chill. This recipe, with the addition of ginger and garlic combined with raw vegetables, effectively solves many seasonal conundrums.

Oh-so-sexy-in-all-the-right-places Pomegranate juice

I love pomegranates. Their pulsing, electric color, sweet jewel-like beads and explosive flavor are the very essence of sensuality; it makes my insides sparkle. Nature is such a tease.

Did you know that pomegranates help to increase testosterone and boost your sex drive and mood in both sexes. Pretty amazing, right? They are packed with anti-oxidants that improve blood flow, decrease the risk of heart disease and taste pretty dang delicious. Additionally they help tame stomach upset, menopausal hot flashes, hemorrhoids, conjunctivitis, osteoarthritis, lower blood pressure, stimulate the immune system, ward off the flu, and reduce inflammation. Packed with vitamin C, and Vitamin K, there is a reason why these beauties are consistently named as one of the best superfoods.

How to Have a Peaceful Heart – Now more than ever.

by

Recently, I was having a conversation with a dear friend (and powerful healer woman) about the situation in Israel and Gaza, the prejudices we all hold and the true way to peace. Her words inspired me greatly and I encouraged her to write them down for all of us to share and re-share. Please read. We are all responsible for the love or hate we hold in our hearts. Love it all. It is the only way I know.

She asked to remain anonymous. Thank you JP.

I am sending this message in an attempt to address the prejudice and intolerance we too often find ourselves, drinking from the same river in which such currents flow. Armored with our own woundedness and fear, we set out to prove the offenders wrong, and ourselves right, arguing and debating our defense point. We silence their voices in order that ours will be heard, or in its extreme form, to punish the evildoers. In this mind-SET, we enter from the other side into the same river of pain and suffering from which the transgressions arose. Albert Einstein said, “we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them”.

How to Bring a Little Brazilian Beauty into your Life

by

My friends, I am leaving in Brazil in a week. I feel tremors. I feel like I am breaking up with my lover at the height of a great romance. It’s a strange feeling to have my energy simultaneously pulled Northward while still trying to remain here and now. Brazil as I have said, is a beautiful mess. It’s dirty, dangerous, and difficult. It’s also so beautiful that my heart swells and I can feel my starry-eyed self, falling deeply in love. The waterfalls, beaches, mountains, and jungles are beyond breath-taking. Note: I have included many pictures from my months in Brazil.
