Well, I am back and slowly reconnecting with my life in Canada. It has been a wild transition to say the least. I miss my dear friends, oceanic Vidigal views and daily Acai though I am happy and excited to be back.
Aside from the huggable cops, heritage houses, and functionality of everything, what has tickled me most is the Ontario wilderness. I had the opportunity to go up to the St. Lawrence River near Kingston Ontario over the weekend to a small community music festival. It was pure inspiration. The Ontario forest energy has an innocent, maiden-like beauty. She quietly invites you in and offers a warm hug and a soft place to land. I love Canadian nature. The diversity and energetic frequency of these lands is fascinating.
The forest, or any large, vibrant natural community can be a wonderful teacher. I invite you to experiment with tuning in to the natural frequencies that different forests and natural settings provide. For instance, I find the forest in BC to be loud, strong and commanding. I found the Atlantic forest in Rio and Sao to be dense, wild and exciting (perhaps because of the variety of dangerous and potentially fatal critters).
Some people say that they cannot feel the energy. It is all there for you if you allow yourself to be open and humble to receive. I find it fascinating that shamans in Peru and Brazil solely use their intuition and divine guidance to help them discover medicinal plants and herbs. They are in tune with nature and thriving.
How can you tune in and open up to the energies that surround you?
Find an opening in the forest where you feel called to sit and be quiet.Close your eyes, focus on slowing down your breath and becoming present.Take off your shoes to ground in and connect to the subtle magnetic frequencies that lie beneath your feet.Listen to the birds, wind and water.Feel the different winds caressing your skin. Are they cold and biting or warm and sensual?Observe how you feel. Do you feel on edge or relaxed? Are you nervous about crawling insects or open to see deer and moose?Open your eyes and observe the unique and distinct leaves, flowers, trees. Note their size, and individual life-force energy*Ask the forest to reveal herself to you. I often find treasures (like owl feathers, quartz crystals, medicinal mushrooms or beautiful leaves) that appear magically when I simply ask for them. There is magic for you to discover.
Receive the energy and allow it heal the broken parts, inspire the artistic parts, elevate the heavy parts. Connecting with nature is intrinsic to human health and happiness.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to discover more of Ontario and Quebec this summer. One of the best parts of travelling is coming home to re-discover elements that we can sometimes take for granted. I am blessed to be Canadian. Please check out my Instagram (elanamillman) to follow me on my discovery of all that is beautiful and rich in our natural, sensual world.
In loving harmony with the subtle vibrations of Spring,
*lifeforce energy is a term that sounds new-age hokey nonsense in English. In Asian languages, the term Chi or Qu is more widely understood and accepted; it is woven into the fabric of the culture. I think we would be a far more connected and happier culture if we saw the divine in all things.
