I love pomegranates. Their pulsing, electric color, sweet jewel-like beads and explosive flavor are the very essence of sensuality; it makes my insides sparkle. Nature is such a tease.

Did you know that pomegranates help to increase testosterone and boost your sex drive and mood in both sexes. Pretty amazing, right? They are packed with anti-oxidants that improve blood flow, decrease the risk of heart disease and taste pretty dang delicious. Additionally they help tame stomach upset, menopausal hot flashes, hemorrhoids, conjunctivitis, osteoarthritis, lower blood pressure, stimulate the immune system, ward off the flu, and reduce inflammation. Packed with vitamin C, and Vitamin K, there is a reason why these beauties are consistently named as one of the best superfoods.

Mid-afternoon, in the midst of an intense editing session of Aromatherapy for Sensual Living, I needed a boost of energy and inspiration. So I made a sensational pomegranate juice that I just needed to share with you, my sensual lover. It’s perfect for an early winter day when the days are short and the cold is starting to set in. Blech. I combined the juice with a couple of warming herbs: raw ginger and 1 drop of cinnamon essential oil to help take the bite out of cold. Both of these warming herbs help to move circulation and heat up extremities. It’s a necessary luxury at this time of year and utterly delicious.

If you haven’t experimented with consuming essential oils, I absolutely recommend you do. It’s a powerful and deeply curative experience that takes the aromatic medicinals right into the cell for your body to use. I have been eating essential oils for years and have consistently enjoyed the benefits and flavor they impart. Just a word of caution, use only ONE drop of essential oil in juice (or on honey, chocolate, ghee, olive oil etc) as it will easily overwhelm the combination and make it a bit too potent. To ensure that you are only using one drop, be sure to pour the bottle at eye level. Additionally, only use medicine-grade steam-distilled essential oils with a maximum of 10 drops throughout the course of the day. Safety first, sensual lovers.
