How to Use the energy of the July 2014 Full Moon

by

At Sensual living, we love getting witchy (in the positive light kind-of-way, of course). As such, we are starting a moon series to learn how to use the energy of the full moon and get more in touch with the natural cycles of life. And what a full moon to start on! Tomorrow night is a super moon, meaning that it’s extra big and powerful- Heads up, you might be more emotional. By doing regular ceremony and ritual to honor the moon, you can create more of what you want in your life.

Getting Rid of Mold the Natural, Aromatic Way.

by

mold-sporesRio gave me so much. I am full and thriving from the experience of living close to the ocean, surrounded by verdant mountains, steeped in a country rich with cultural and spiritual tradition. I came home happy… and with a suitcase full of mold. It seems that Brazilian winter temperatures combined with ocean breezes and mountains behind me made for a perfect breeding ground for mold to flourish. I had no idea the extent of the invasion until my friend picked me up at the airport and had an allergy attack as soon as she hugged me. Sheesh, that was awkward.

House of Trees

The House of the Trees (1895)

Ethelwyn Wetherald (canadian)

OPE your doors and take me in,
Spirit of the wood,
Wash me clean of dust and din,
Clothe me in your mood.

Take me from the noisy light 5
To the sunless peace,
Where at mid day standeth Night
Signing Toil’s release.

All your dusky twilight stores
To my senses give; 10
Take me in and lock the doors,
Show me how to live.

Lift your leafy roof for me,
Part your yielding walls;
Let me wander lingeringly 15
Through your scented halls.

Discover your forest. Discover yourself.

by

The Forest pathWell, I am back and slowly reconnecting with my life in Canada. It has been a wild transition to say the least. I miss my dear friends, oceanic Vidigal views and daily Acai though I am happy and excited to be back.

Aside from the huggable cops, heritage houses, and functionality of everything, what has tickled me most is the Ontario wilderness. I had the opportunity to go up to the St. Lawrence River near Kingston Ontario over the weekend to a small community music festival. It was pure inspiration. The Ontario forest energy has an innocent, maiden-like beauty. She quietly invites you in and offers a warm hug and a soft place to land. I love Canadian nature. The diversity and energetic frequency of these lands is fascinating.

How to Bring a Little Brazilian Beauty into your Life

by

My friends, I am leaving in Brazil in a week. I feel tremors. I feel like I am breaking up with my lover at the height of a great romance. It’s a strange feeling to have my energy simultaneously pulled Northward while still trying to remain here and now. Brazil as I have said, is a beautiful mess. It’s dirty, dangerous, and difficult. It’s also so beautiful that my heart swells and I can feel my starry-eyed self, falling deeply in love. The waterfalls, beaches, mountains, and jungles are beyond breath-taking. Note: I have included many pictures from my months in Brazil.

Jungle Love

by

Sweet sensual lovers,

I have been far. I am so sorry, my sweets. I want to connect, just been deep in the woods without power.

Here’s the juice. Carnaval, as far as I could see, is a government sanctioned booze and sex fest. As soon as Carnaval Thursday hit, I felt a discernible shift in energy to something rather dark and out of current. I am not a party pooper. I just don’t get off on drunk, mojo-charged Brazilian men shoving their tongues down my throat at random. It happens and it’s just not how I roll.

Brazilian Herbalism- Alchemy in Action

by

On Saturday, I made the long trek from Vidigal to Santa Teresa to meet with a nutritionist friend to discuss teaching an Aromatherapy workshop in her space (we booked March 22 if you want to come). Santa Teresa is an amazing neighborhood, full of old, decaying, pillared buildings and vibrant, eclectic artists. In addition to having an inspiring boho-chic house, Sissa, my nutritionist friend also has a huge roof-top garden filled with Brazilian medicinal plants. I immediately asked for a tour.
